The Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) is a powerful force in local philanthropy, engaged in issues important to women.

WLC members constitute a growing network of women in leadership positions who use their energy, talent, and passion to advocate for social change. WLC members demonstrate the powerful impact women can make when they pool their individual talents and financial resources.

WLC Members enjoy the opportunity to:
- Network with other area women business and community leaders
- Learn about community issues, agencies and programs receiving United Way support
- Participate in WLC events held year-round

Growing Strong. In 2009 the WLC continued its growth, increasing membership and raising $3.1 million, a 7 percent increase over 2008. Since its inception, WLC members have collectively raised $14 million in support of United Way of Allegheny County.

WLC membership is offered to women who make an annual contribution of $1,000 or more to United Way.

9th Annual United Way of Allegheny County
Women’s Leadership Council Breakfast

On Wednesday, September 15, 2010 a sell-out audience of 800 women philanthropists and community leaders met for the 9th Annual Women’s Leadership Council Breakfast.

The featured Keynote Speaker was Victoria Rowell, artist, actress, author and foster care advocate.

Eden Hall Foundation was the Premier Sponsor of the 2010 Breakfast. Citizens Bank and UPMC Health Plan were Signature Sponsors. Bombardier Transportation and Highmark Blue Cross, Blue Shield were Supporting Sponsors.

In 2010, the annual Women’s Leadership Council Wine Tasting Reception was moved to a new date, new time and new location! On April 8, members enjoyed the Spring Flower Show at Phipps Conservatory while sampling wines from local vendors.

The Reception was sponsored by First Niagara and UPMC Health Plan (premier sponsors); Citizens Bank, Eaton Corporation, FedEx Ground and Hefren- Tillotson (contributing sponsors); Deloitte, Ernst & Young LLP, K&L Gates LLP, MARC USA, Schneider Downs and United States Steel Corporation (sponsors).
