Women have become a powerful force in philanthropy. In fact, last year, the United Way of Allegheny County Women's Leadership Council's 1200-plus members contributed more than $2.8 million to United Way, supporting agencies whose programs aid women and children in crisis, provide early childhood and after-school programs, keep our seniors healthy and independent and help people meet basic needs.
