Criteria for Non Profits Seeking Support from the
United Way Maurice Falk Fund
Application period: July 11-August 12, 2011
- Agency must be a non-profit 501(c)3, registered in Pennsylvania and delivering primarily health and human services in Allegheny County.
- Agency must be a United Way partner agency or a recent recipient of unrestricted funds through a grant from The Pittsburgh Foundation.
- Funds should be used to complete a capital purchase or improvements that meet the guidelines below, and may not exceed $15,000.
- Agency must demonstrate that this need did not occur because of the deferral of normal maintenance to equipment or facility.
- The grant would enable the agency to continue providing services to its clients and avoid a broader solicitation for capital funds for this particular need.
- Supporting documentation is required to substantiate the request as follows:
- Description of circumstances that created the need, e.g., natural disaster, accident, equipment age or use, increased need or increased client base
- How this grant will impact the need
- 3 quotes from appropriate vendors estimating costs for the capital equipment/ improvement
- Documentation of support from other donors, if available
